Internet Rechartering
The Internet Rechartering system will allow a representative of each unit to complete the paperwork for renewing a charter online. From Internet Rechartering, you can indicate returning members, add new members, and update information for an individual or the chartered organization. You will have a choice to either download membership information from the BSA´s ScoutNET system or upload from your unit management software (TroopMaster, PackMaster, Rank N´File, etc.)
How to use...
The October roundtables will feature training on Internet Rechartering. Each unit must select an adult to be its renewal processor; this adult must attend the training. Additionally, anyone who wants to learn more about how Internet Rechartering works can take the interactive Internet Rechartering tutorial and view the help.
To Renew a Charter Online...
  1. Sixty days before your unit's expiration date, select a renewal processor.
  2. The renewal processor attends the October Round Table to receive training and the unit access code.
  3. Sixty to 45 days before the unit's expiration date (December 31st), the renewal processor clicks Recharter Now and begins the process.
  4. When the online process is completed, the renewal processor prints the completed charter renewal application.
  5. The unit leader and the chartered organization representative sing the charter renewal application.
  6. Bring the renewal application, youth and adult applications and other material you received in your recharter packet (such as the Quality Unit application), to your district's charter turn-in meeting. All BSA registration fees will also be due at that time.

If your unit does not with to renew the charter online, they will be given the opportunity to oder a paper renewal application.

Membership Fee Increase. The National BSA Executive Board unanimously passed a resolution at the business meeting on May 22 to increase the traditional membership registration fee for all youth and adults to $15 from its current $10, effective Jan. 1, 2010. The last fee increase, which was from $7 to $10, was in 2003. The Exploring fee remains $10. A great deal of thought and consideration went into this decision. Consideration was given to an expected deficit to the National Council operating budget, the impact to program and council support, the necessary funding required over the next several years, the cost of implementing fee increases annually in systems and forms, as well as the overall fees paid by councils. Finally, given all these considerations, it was determined that the best approach was to increase the fee to the level chosen and make every effort to hold that level for a period of at least three years.
